Straw Wattles are 9” or 12” tubular rolls of inert rice or wheat straw that capture sediment and spread water to prevent erosion in an attractive and environmentally-friendly way. Wattles can be used to slow storm water runoff, keep soil on site or prevent soil from washing onto pavement and asphalt.
Straw wattles are more efficient than silt fences and do not need to be removed. They can be used to slow run off velocity in low slope and low risk job sites, and can be wrapped around storm drain inlets to slow water and settle out sediment. Wattles also work as check dams to prevent sheet erosion as well as rill and gully development.
Straw wattles should be staked every five feet along the length of the wattle and should overlap at a 1ft minimum.
Wattles are palletized in 9” by 25’ lengths, 200’ per pallet –but custom sizes are also available.
